Red Deer Lovin’

I had the pleasure of headlining the Red Deer Legion gig Saturday night. Melissa, Trevor Buchanan and I pulled 10 car hours round trip to make it work, but the people there made it more than worth the while. Sell-out crowd and we had a great time. Also had the chance to see Chris Aid of Edmonton try his first Saturday night guest spot, good work Chris!

I’m in the post-production process for the 2nd DVD and at times I feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. I’m stepping up the production quality significantly with direct audio and multiple camera angles. All this is far more than Windows Movie Maker could handle, so thanks to Paul for hooking me up with software that’s up to the task. Now if he could only help me edit this pile of footage…

I’ve survived another Black February. I don’t know what it is about this month, but everything seems to go sideways despite my best efforts. I am hoping this month gets capped off by a Team Canada gold medal in Hockey, we’ll have to wait and see.

Did you know you can download TV shows and movies online? After years of hesitating on playing in Torrent-land, I have finally jumped in and I can’t believe I waited this long. Jamie even showed me how to stream media straight to my PS3! Dexter on tap! I figure I should be able to download enough to keep me entertained as I begin to hit the treadmill in March.

I had an awesome surprise from Melissa this week: New shoes and three new pairs of pants. I’ve lost almost 5 inches off my waist now, and I hope there is more to come.

My Awesome Woman

I have to take a quick moment and just mention how fantastic Melissa has been to me over the last week. From putting up with the stress of the TCU show, to company coming over for UFC, to nursing me to health, she has really been everything I have ever dreamed of. Life rules with her in it, thanks Sweetheart!

I received some Edmonton dates in the months to come, looking forward to getting back to town. BBBoris I read your site and Chantal’s from time to time. It’s about time we closed some damn distance and re-connected. Let’s make an effort next time I’m in town and do it up right! Socks, Pancakes and Narco Pups! (Wow that joke is so far inside even I don’t get it anymore)

It’s a ‘Dude’s Day’ tonight with the boys! Chicken Nuggets, Superfries and the Elimination Chamber! WOO-HOO!

Argh, the dreaded winter cold

Well the Andre Gagnon show has come and gone. I had a great time, I’ll have pictures and video up soon. The experience on the larger stage will really pay off in the future. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this opportunity.

I’m fighting hard against a winter cold. I’ve kicked off the sore throat and cough, but the runny nose and sneezing are still going strong. A guy with a nose the size of mine can really sneeze too.

Once my head gets out of this fog I’m sure I’ll have something witty to add. Amazing how quickly annoyances and people with problems can just disappear if you just ignore them…

Big Show Tonight!

Tonight I take to the TCU stage to open for Andre Philippe Gagnon. I am super stoked to have 25 minutes once again in a soft seat theatre. It is almost as if Saskatoon has been starving for professional comedy, and I am enjoying every opportunity that is coming my way.

I have an idea I’m going to try tonight as well, I’ll have video and details up tomorrow!

Matthew vs. Giant Cat

Sold Out shows in Cranbrook! Unexpected and awesome! I did almost 90 minutes Saturday, fueled by a great crowd and way too many shots sent up.

Check out our video of our visit to Fort Steele! Midget Doors, Johnny cakes, and the giant cat!

Here I come Cranbrook!

Well I’m off to Cranbrook this weekend to headline the Laugh Shop.  The shows have been getting better and better there, and I enjoy playing this one.  I’m looking forward to getting on the road and letting some stress bleed off as the kilometers go by.  Melissa has a mid-term today and she’s ready to pop with all the memorization she’s been having to do, so this road trip comes just in time.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on playing TCU again.  I’m thrilled to be back in soft seat theatre, and my name in Saskatoon continues to grow.  It’s almost as if the local scene has been dying for some professional high grade comedy, as many acts seem to be coming through in the near future.

Managed to get another batch of DVDs prepped and ready, and I’m looking forward to visiting family in Calgary on the way through.  We’ll be sure to shoot more video blogs and footage of the show.  It’s now much easier for me to post footage in a short time frame, so expect a lot more YouTube in the near future!

Matthew plays TCU place again!

Wow!  Just found out I’ve got the honour of playing TCU Place again within a year.  This time I’ll be opening for the super-talented Andre-Philippe Gagnon!  It’s awesome to have such great success in such a short time in my new home town.  Thank you again Saskatoon it is awesome to be here!

More headline spots, thanks Laugh Shop

Thanks to Holly for giving me Cranbrook and the Red Deer Legion to headline.  Wow it feels great to be respected by a chain of clubs and be able to work both in my home town of Saskatoon and across western Canada.  I’ve updated my calendar of events, and I’m trying to shore up more stock of my DVD.  See you soon Cranbrook and Red Deer!

In other news, Melissa absolutely crushed her Phychology exam and now she’s on to aspects of Biology.  I’m always impressed at her dedication to study at home and ignore distraction.  She’s moved all my computers and cords to a distant corner of the house so now we’re both happy.

Max and Liam had a wonderful time with me this weekend.  We played ‘Cake Boss’ with Liam’s EZ Bake oven.  He took phone call orders, baked cookies and brownies, made deliveries, and enjoyed being the ‘boss’.  It was awesome.

Max and I are looking forward to our regular movie night to Wrestlemania.  I haven’t decided if I will order it in, now that I have a kick ass new stereo.  Life in Saskatoon rocks!

Saskatoon show aftermath

Wow… had a huge spike in hits to my site.  No idea why…

What makes me smile is the REAL STORY is that the ’events’ of my weekend failed to top my ‘most hits of the day’ I got in October when I posted this picture of my wonderful bride-to-be

Looking forward to releasing my second DVD soon, complete with footage from both my tapings.

Saskatoon Laugh Shop Shows…

Had a great time in GP and Red Deer with Trevor.  Lots of KM to drive but the shows were great.  The GP room is run very well and the food was fantastic.  Red Deer is always a hoot, and the crowd interaction was fun.

I was at the Laugh Shop in Saskatoon last night.  Cory had a great set and huge thanks to Paul of Horizon for taping EVERYTHING.  Looking forward to another night in my new hometown tonight :)

Max and I are about to Watch WWE Royal Rumble.  Good to have time to spend with my kids, and here’s hoping Y2J comes out on Top
